Philippines Independence Day

Magandang Umaga, This week we are learning about the Philippines Independence day

File:Flag of Philippines.jpg - Wikimedia Commons

The Philippines independence day is celebrated every year on the 12th of June.

The reason this date is so important is that this marks another year of independence for the Philippines from the colonizer's, Spain but then came under control by the USA although the Philippines does have control over itself now and the US only had control for 3 years.

The way the Philippines celebrate this day is by nationwide parades. However, the main highlight is the police and military parade in Manila headed by the country's incumbent president, followed by a speech and a 21-gun salute.

The foods which are eaten are:
Chicken adobo:                   Spicy Beef Stew (Caldereta)    Leche flan

Coraline - Four Questions

1. 5 plot points I remember

1. - Coraline is told to count the doors and windows in the house to pass time, she comes across the weird door behind the wallpaper. Later into the night and she is lead to the door which is now a pathway to the another dimension
- Coraline meets her 'other' parents and later finds out that the other mother has made the world to impress her so she can eat her later.
-Coraline finds out about the dead children after being put in a dark room with no escape and is later pulled out by wybie
-Coraline makes a game with the mother so she can save her parents and the dead children
-Coraline dumps the key to the door which lead to the other dimension into the well stopping the mother from getting to her

2. Character names

3. Something that was interesting?

Coraline Notes

Opening scene:
*Music - sounds like a music box and creepy - repetitive lyrics 'dreaming' - starts off quite

*Perspective (POV) 'Other mother' - needle hands

*Use of close up camera angle - makes the audience focus on the doll, not the creator

*Lighting/colour - Green and dim/faded - The brightness blocks out some objects in the background - colour makes the atmosphere scary and sets the mood - atmosphere seems old and unpleasant or unpleasing

Setting-Pink palace-real world
*music-happy, gentle, harmony, chanting, sung by children
lyrics in a made-up language, make a calm happy atmosphere change to increase tension-faster, louder, minor

*Coraline-Sassy, moody, stubborn, bright colours-blue hair, yellow jacket and boots, - the main character - makes us focus, shows shes different from those in the real world

*colour/Lighting-dull, grey, boring, dark, bland, tinted, makes the 'real' house feel depressing, old, crusty and cold, not a place Coraline wants to be

*'Real' Parents-Dull, workaholics, don't have have time for Coraline, not happy, depressed, tired

The 'other world:
Colour/Lighting- Bright, vibrant, warm,welcoming-makes it feels inviting and safe, Coraline doesn't stand out anymore

Other parents-Fun, active, show Coraline attention, energetic, cooked her nice meal, they look happy and healthy, unlike the real parents.

Music- Spooky music, doesn't match what we are seeing, slow to medium pace, minor, quiet

-----------------------------
\The real neighbours:

Colour- Greys, dark, mournful, sad
colours-pallette, foggy, faded, washed out, run-down, dusty, sticky

Lighting- Dark/gloomy - inside house cold light, shabby, dark, poor

Music- bland background, medium pace, Latin style, upbeat, movement

Setting-Forest looks dead, the house is old, rustic, rundown
-basement, theatre room, used to be functional now is dated

Characters- Mr Bobonsky-russian 'drunk' awkward weirdo
Miss sparkle and terrible - they argue, opposites but like the same thing, actress, old fashioned, confident attention-seekers
-Coraline doesn't like them but better than nothing

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

'Other' neighbours:

Colour- bright, light, friendly, welcoming
Good dark, shiny, bright, vibrant

Lighting-warm light-orange/yellow
warm light - spotlights are bright

Music- Loud, joyful, circus music, playful
-energetic,brass

Setting- the garden is alive, house si painted/looks new
the apartment looked colourful, clean, organised
-theatre, grand, large, posh, good condition

Characters- Mr B-clean/tidy/done-up, healthy blue, nice to Coraline-gets her name right.
Miss Spink and Forcible - transformed young, thin, attractive, talented actress/acrobats, modern
-Coraline likes them, is enthusiastic to have them as neighbours

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The beldam;

Colours: Dark, greens, colourful, purple/pink, neons that show in the dark, fades to white

Lighting: dark, cold, unsafe, horrific

What am I learning:
I am learning to identify camera shots, angles and movements and how to describe certain film shots, angles and movements.

How does this work show my learning:
It shows my learning by showing I can identify film and that I know how to describe it.

What am I wondering as a result of this learning?
I am wondering if how I've described the many film visuals are correct and if my film visuals are also correct on the columns.
